gnawing at the roots
for almost two decades
I think of my mother
digging from the womb of Earth
sunlight for the first time
I see my father
I will always arrive on time
to shed my skin
to start again
I am here I am
Brood x cicadas are arriving! These 17 year old insects are emerging from the Earth to finish their life cycles. I was fortunate enough to see many near metro Detroit. Observing them inspired me to create this sketch and poem. If you see them, please observe them with respect.
