My name is Ren. I’m an independent artist and designer inspired by the interconnectedness of nature. I create artwork in my studio as my reverence to all beings, to communicate that each of us are worthy of compassion and total liberation.

I come from Downriver, Michigan – a world of wetlands and industry. My relationship with these fragile and polluted places has influenced the art I create, as well as the strong connection I feel to other-than-humans who are featured in much of my work. (I also live with an adopted bird flock who supervise me in the studio!)

I am a 2012 alum of the University of Michigan’s School of Art & Design, where I won the Integrative Project Thesis Award for my poetry and artist book series ‘Unnamed Places’. For the last decade, I’ve worked as a graphic designer for other businesses… now I’m finally going solo on my own creative work!
